Welcome to our page, and allow me to share the incredible journey of our company, Only for Princesses. Our story began 35 years ago when passion and determination collided to bring forth something more than just a business. It was a dream, a vision, a belief that we could create a magical place where every little girl’s dreams could come true. Just like becoming a mother, starting a business breathes life into a living being beyond a mere project. And to bring a life to existence is what we set out to do. With a heart full of hope and the desire to make every little girl’s childhood magical, my mom and I embarked on this incredible adventure. It all started during my pregnancy with my baby girl. I envisioned a special place where she would have everything she could ever need from birth to her twelfth year.
This dream ignited a fire within my mother, who was in her mid-50s, to learn the art of sewing. With every stitch, she poured her love into creating beautiful clothes for our princesses. Years later, my sister Adriana followed in my mother’s footsteps and became a fashion designer for Only for Princesses. I can still picture her in her studio, dedicating herself to each dress and every tiny detail. It’s a labor of love, and every time I touch those clothes, I feel the passion that went into creating them.
But our story doesn’t end there. My mom, now in her mid-80s, is as dedicated as when she started. Every day, she rushes through her daily tasks to have a moment to work on patterns, sew a dress, or indulge in her passion for fashion by watching promising sewing shows on YouTube. And every weekend, she eagerly waits to visit her beloved fabric store.
Our journey also includes the efforts of many other exceptional individuals like my cousin Mia, who traveled for hours to downtown in Armenia, a small Colombian town, standing in line to legalize our company. Their dedication and belief in our vision were unwavering. I can’t forget the contributions of my niece Daniela, who designed the first page of our “Only for Princesses” webpage. She also spends countless hours formatting the pages of my books, ensuring they are just right. And then there’s Dahiana, who fearlessly braved the scorching heat of her hometown, to capture stunning photographs of our clothing during photo shoots with little girls in Cali, Colombia. The efforts of Natalia and Mia, who tirelessly create videos that capture the essence of our brand, must also be recognized. Their creativity shines through, an integral part of our journey.
Reflecting on this incredible adventure, I realize it has been taxing. Some obstacles and challenges threatened to derail our dreams. But through it all, we persevered. I remember the pile of rejection letters from publishers, leading me to become a self-publisher. And most importantly, my son’s battles with addiction took priority over the business. Life taught me valuable lessons about resilience and prioritizing what matters most. In this awe-inspiring journey, we honor the memory of those no longer with us, the uncles and aunts who sacrificed their dreams to provide for their families in occupations that limited their potential. I remember my late father, who believed in his daughters’ abilities, even though he never witnessed a perfectly executed garment or held one of my books. His belief in us resonates daily, and his last words, “You will both go far,” continue to inspire my sister and I.
While I may not have inherited his intelligence or discovered his visionary invention, our company carries his spirit of determination and a desire to make a lasting impact on the world.
Today, Only for Princesses stands tall, an eight-month-old princess (as of October, 2023) with unlimited potential. Our sweat, effort, commitment, and love nourish her. We acknowledge that our journey is marked by moments of failure and learning, just like changing a child’s diapers. But we rise again, starting over, armed with newfound knowledge and dedication to our princess’s growth. Our daughter cannot survive on the efforts of one or two individuals alone; she requires the love and attention of all of us.
Like Lola, my beloved granddaughter who brings joy to our lives, our company thrives through the collective contributions of our team, our customers, and all those who believe in our vision. Only for Princesses is a dream revived, a legacy reawakened. With renewed determination, we aim to create a brand encompassing not just fashion and books but an entire world of imagination, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to helping the well-being of our planet and freeing enslaved children. We aspire to follow in the footsteps of the world’s most distinguished visionaries creating magical experiences and inspiring generations to come. This journey is personal for my family, my children who deserve to see their mother’s dreams come true, my beloved granddaughter Lola, the new age that carries our legacy forward, and most importantly, for our future generation. I want my stories to leave a mark, inspire, and improve the world. Today, as we stand here, united by our passion and commitment, I invite you to join us on this magical journey.
